TWO WORLD HERITAGES COOPERATE…

During his last state visit to China, President Emmanuel Macron and President Xi Jinping discussed the need for closer cooperation within their countries for the conservation and restoration of their two main World Heritages classified by UNESCO: The Mausoleum of the First Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, and Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, seriously damaged by the fire on April 15th.

On 6 November, the French Minister of Culture, Franck Riester and the Chinese Director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, Liu Yuzhu signed, in this sense, a declaration in favour of a bilateral cooperation which should facilitate the visit, in 2020, of two Chinese experts and their collaboration with their French colleagues on the Notre-Dame’s restoration worksite.

For the French association “Restaurons Notre-Dame”, this news underlines the relevance of a true restoration-reconstruction that respects the Worldwide Heritage of Humanity.
